Value fashion retailer Citykart has expanded its presence in India with the launch of 22 new stores across multiple states in just 40 days.

The company has also strengthened its presence in Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan with 2 stores each and also marked its entry into Chhattisgarh with 1 store.
All the new stores have been launched under the company-owned, company-operated (COCO) model, with an investment of approximately ₹1.5 crore per store.
Citykart operates around 170 stores across 112 cities in 13 states, with a strong presence in Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 markets.
Competition in the value retail segment is intensifying. For instance, Vishal Mega Mart plans to open 100 new stores by FY26, while V-Mart added a record 29 new stores in Q4 FY26, bringing its total operating store count to 577. Baazar Style Retail Limited has reached 267 stores, and V2 Retail is considering revising upward its target of opening 100 new outlets in FY26.
Likewise, Zudio added 198 stores in FY25, bringing the total to over 963 as of March 2026. ABFRL is expanding its value fashion brand Style Up, targeting over 200 stores by FY 2027–28. Shoppers Stop’s Intune is also expanding rapidly.
At the same tim, the emphasis of these brands is on improving unit economics by increasing sales per square foot.
Value fashion holds a dominant 57% share of the country’s US $102.8 billion apparel market and has grown at a CAGR of nearly 13% between 2020 and 2025.
