Menswear brand ENGYNE has announced a record-breaking spike in summer sales. Sales of Polo T-shirts increased by 125% and shorts by 300% between April and May, the brand’s biggest seasonal uptick since its April 2025 launch.
The trend suggests a clear shift in consumer preferences towards lightweight, premium summer essentials, driven by the start of holidays, prolonged heat waves, and an increasing need for breathable, fashionable clothing.
The cities with the largest demand for Polo T-shirts were Salem, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and South Delhi. Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Karur, and a number of Tier-2 cities witnessed the most traction for shorts, indicating robust momentum in both established and new markets. Early heat waves hit many of these locations, which fuelled a spike in demand for skin-friendly, breathable clothing like polos and shorts made of cotton blends.
School breaks and extended weekends during the April–June summer vacation period encourage customers to update their clothes for road trips, vacations, and resort stays.
Additionally, the need for breathable, light clothes has grown as a result of India’s warming temperatures. Another significant factor is the change in lifestyle towards more comfortable fashion. These days, customers are looking for items that combine comfort and style, making them perfect for socialising, working from cafés, or taking vacations. Particularly, polo t-shirts have become the ideal transitional item between business and casual attire.
Millennials (ages 27 to 40) make up the majority of the brand’s clientele. They have demonstrated a keen interest in smart-casual shorts and Polo T-shirts, especially in metropolitan areas. Demand for graphic shirts and loop-knit shorts is being driven by Gen Z (those between the ages of 18 and 26), particularly in Tier-2 cities like Jalandhar, Kota, and Tirupur. Young families are making multi-item purchases, buying items that are travel-ready and made of breathable cotton. The dominance of urban working professionals is confirmed by shipping addresses and shopping habits, which also show high activity on weekends and in the evenings.
