After serving for three years, Thampy Koshy, the managing director and CEO of the Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC), resigned, leaving the organization’s ten-member board in temporary control, people in the know have said. The board does not yet have any plans to replace Koshy, who will leave on 30th June, said another person in the know.
According to ONDC, which confirmed the development, Koshy has stated his intention to resign while assisting with the shift. Over the next three months, Koshy will be available to the board for assistance since the MD and CEO duties have been transferred to an executive committee.
In less than three years, ONDC has grown remarkably, reaching 200 million transactions and making significant progress towards its goal of democratising e-commerce in India. A leadership transition is presently taking place, as is the case with any dynamic and changing organisation, ONDC continued.
Shireesh Joshi, the chief business officer of ONDC, quit after three years, citing personal reasons, one month prior. After four months, former UIDAI mission director R S Sharma resigned as ONDC’s non-executive chairperson in December of last year.
