Multi-brand clothes retailer Shopper Stop intends to open 60 additional locations in the current fiscal year under its low-cost retail model, INTUNE, according to a top official. According to the most recent annual report of the K Raheja Corp group company, Shoppers Stop wants to disrupt India’s value fashion market by making use of mass premium prospects through INTUNE.
Shoppers Stop is using real-time information to enable regular product drops and selection revisions in order to keep ahead of the competition. It said that Shoppers Stop competes with similar value formats like Trent’s Zudio and Landmark of Max Fashion.
“We are targeting 60 new stores in FY 2024-25 backed by strategic investments in merchandising, store operations, and customer analytics capabilities,” the company said.
Within nine months of its start, Shoppers Stop, which has launched 22 INTUNE stores, said that the rapidly expanding middle class in India is driving an “inflection point” in the discount fashion market.
According to Kavindra Mishra, the company’s managing director and chief executive officer, INTUNE has produced “higher-than-expected results” in its first nine months of operation.
Shoppers Stop is also expanding its private labels to bridge the gap between aspirations and affordability. “Our Private Apparel Brands account for approximately 19 per cent of our total apparel business, with even higher contributions in non-metro areas and newer stores. In our online channels, private brands make up over 50 per cent of the apparel business,” it said.
