India’s textiles and apparel exports in July increased by 4.73 per cent to US $ 2,937.56 million, up from US $ 2,805.01 million in the same month last year, driven by higher demand for apparel, according to the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).
While textile exports remained steady at US $ 1,660.36 million compared to US $ 1,663.06 million last year, apparel shipments saw a significant rise of 11.84 per cent to US $ 1,277.20 million from US $ 1,141.95 million.
CITI Chairman Rakesh Mehra noted, “This year has shown promising progress for India’s T&A exports, particularly when compared to last year. The growth in exports is largely attributed to the expanding share of Indian apparel in key markets such as the USA, alongside increased exports to the EU-27 and the UK. The industry remains optimistic about export orders in the upcoming months, and we are poised to further leverage the concluded FTAs like the India-Australia ECTA and the India-UAE CEPA. These agreements are expected to provide additional momentum to our exports.”
