The Inditex-owned Spanish retailer has just launched a new 55,000 sq. ft. flagship in Hong Kong, introducing to the Asian market a store concept which is already found in New York, London, Paris and Madrid. “In the 1930s it was home to China Emporium Ltd., one of the greatest department stores of the era and the only one founded by local entrepreneurs,” says Zara’s official statement. The store is the first to meet all the environmental standards laid out in the Sustainable Inditex Plan, which spans from 2011 – 2015. The location consumes 30 per cent less energy than conventional shops, and reduces water consumption by 70 per cent.
