Tirupur (India)-based Warsaw International, which has a record of working exclusively for Tom Tailor, has now added four new buyers to its tally. The new apparel buyers include names like Marc O’Polo, Camp David and Kappa.
The apparel supplier used to offer menswear and kidswear to Tom Tailor (only) till January this year. It now supplies mere 20 per cent of its total production to the fashion brand and the remaining 80 per cent of Warsaw’s production capacity is for the four new buyers.
Specifying the reasons that motivated Warsaw to go for this major shift, Raja M Shanmugham, Chairman of the company told Apparel Resources, “We have grown with Tom Tailor as we have been working with this German brand for more than two decades. But a change of ownership at Tom Tailor made us go for this decrease in business with them and opt for new buyers.”
Raja envisions the situation of working with five buyers at the same time as challenging. He and his team are, however, geared up to prove themselves in this new scenario. The apparel exporter has even improved its overall manufacturing setup by adopting Lean and fabric saving tools to make itself even more competitive.
The addition of these new buyers was an arduous task for Warsaw but the company’s market credibility helped it in getting good clients.
The supplier currently does an annual export of nearly Rs. 80 crore. However, it expects a drop in turnover in the current year because of the modifications in its business strategy.
The company is optimistic that it will garner more growth in the long run once it will start working on it full potential by the year end.
