At the recently organized Kingpins denim show in New York, Germany-based Bayer AG’s subgroup, Bayer CropScience has launched its e3™ sustainable cotton programme, providing guidelines for US cotton farmers growing Certified FiberMax® or authentic Stoneville® cotton.
A transparent, environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially equitable program, e3™, allows buyers to identify where their cotton was grown using a certification database maintained exclusively by Bayer CropScience. “The concept of sustainable cotton grew out of the desire of farmers, textile producers, brands and retailers to meet consumer demand for a renewable source of cotton,” informs Brent Crossland, Fiber Development Manager for Bayer CropScience. Meanwhile, the program encourages reduced use of water, land and energy while maintaining productivity.
