
Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate a day-long job fair organized by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in Dhaka today. The fair is taking place at International Conference Centre, Bashundhara. Around 40 garment factory owners are participating in the fair, which will serve as platform for those willing to be part of apparel sector as workers or executives.
It may be mentioned here that BGMEA under its partnership programme with the Government’s project – “Skill for Employment Investment Programme (SEIP) has given training to a large number of people. BGMEA-SEIP is aimed at creating 43,800 skilled manpower by 2018 as per the requirement of the garment sector.

“BGMEA-SIEP project has already provided training to 20,000 people of which about 15,000 are operators and 5,000 are mid-level executive for garment factories. Of them, some 10,000 trainees have already got jobs in garment factories,” he said.
