A one-day capacity-building training programme in textile design was held by Pearl Academy and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for teachers from CBSE-affiliated schools. The programme, which was held at Pearl Academy’s Rajouri Garden campus in Delhi, gave 65 teachers from Chandigarh and Delhi a thorough platform to hone their craft.
Participants learned about textile innovation that has been incorporated into important sustainable practices by some of the top industry giants, including Dupont and Lenzing Scholler.
Important topics such as the Fundamentals of Fabric and Fibre Testing, Block and Screen Printing, Weaving Structure, and Innovation in Smart Textiles were discussed in the workshops.
Textile Science is now only offered in 42 Delhi Government and Government-aided schools; however, this programme will soon change to Apparel Science, which is a more comprehensive curriculum. This change is in line with sustainable practices since it incorporates concepts from textile science, such as knowledge of fibres, dying processes, and weaving techniques, into the current curriculum.
