Flipkart and the Goa government have teamed together to use Flipkart’s online platform to support the expansion of self-help organisations in the state.
The National Rural Livelihood Mission Foundation, in collaboration with Policy Watch India Foundation and Flipkart, held a workshop in Goa to teach digital marketing skills to underprivileged communities.
In order to promote economic growth and empowerment, the program intends to give participants—who include artisans, craftspeople, and women’s self-help groups—the skills necessary to market their traditional products online, such as traditional handloom and apparel items. It is anticipated that the partnership with Flipkart will increase local products’ visibility in both domestic and international markets.
Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, highlighted that the partnership with Flipkart will make products from the National Rural Livelihood Mission Foundation available on the platform. He emphasized that this collaboration supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local, Global’ initiative.
Rajneesh Kumar, Flipkart’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, stated that offering digital platforms to women’s self-help groups and marginalised communities will help expand their market reach, boost their income, and promote women’s empowerment. He added that the workshop will equip them with the skills needed to sell their products online.
