Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh has said that India’s textile and apparel exports reached an all-time high of US $ 44.4 billion. To ensure continuous growth, India needs to focus more on PM Narendra Modi’s vision of the 5F Formula (from farm to fibre, fibre to factory, factory to fashion, and from fashion to foreign) which works to empower every stakeholder involved in the textile value chain.
Addressing a textile conference, ‘Evolving Sustainability and Circularity in Textile and Apparel Industry: Roadmap to Sustainable Development Goals’ organised by Lady Irwin College and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) the minister said that women today play a very important role in Indian administration and finance.
Having an engaging interaction with subject matter experts, she insisted to work on ideas of Reuse, Recycle to create a paradigm shift in textiles.
Prof Anupa Siddhu, Director, Lady Irwin College, said that sustainability should be an integral part of our curriculum, and we need to accelerate the agenda for the roadmap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
