The Labour Department, Kerala has withdrawn the show cause notice sent to Kitex Garments on the minimum wages issue. It was issued by the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Perumbavoor.
The notice sought clarification regarding why Kitex Garments hasn’t implemented the Minimum Wages Recommendations of 2019.
However, Kitex Garments’ lawyer Blaze K, Jose wrote to the Labour Secretary clarifying that the High Court had stayed the recommendations through an interim order on 26 March 2021.
The letter of Kitex also pointed out that the notice by Assistant Labour Commissioner is contempt of court.

In other development, after Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, now Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has sent an e-mail to Sabu M. Jacob, Chairman, Kitex Group inviting him to invest in his state.
The Minister has invited Jacob for a meeting in Hyderabad soon and if he is not free, the Telangana Government representatives will be willing to visit him in Kerala, he wrote.
