RMP Group, an Indian textile major, has partnered with Voltanova, a deeptech company incubated at IISc’s Foundation of Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), to strengthen their commitment towards sustainability and move towards significant decarbonisation. The leading textile manufacturer has adopted Voltanova’s cutting-edge thermal energy storage solution to transform its industrial operations.
RMP Group operates manufacturing facilities in Panipat and Faridabad, producing 45 million meters of fabric annually for major global apparel brands like Zara, H&M, American Eagle, Next, and GAP.
Voltanova’s technology offers a cost-effective thermal energy storage system, claimed to be the most affordable in India, delivering high-temperature, completely carbon-free industrial energy at a fifth of the cost of traditional battery energy storage. With a 95 per cent efficiency rate, this system converts renewable energy into high-temperature industrial heat and power, eliminating the reliance on fossil fuels. Designed for multi-day storage, it ensures continuous, 24/7 operations, making it optimal for energy-intensive industries, including textiles.
“The biggest challenge with renewables isn’t generation—it’s intermittency. Industries can’t afford to pause when the sun sets or the wind slows down. Our Thermal Energy Storage bridges this gap, storing excess renewable energy as high-temperature heat and delivering it 24/7. It’s low-cost, reliable, and the key to decarbonizing heavy industries while ensuring uninterrupted operations,” said Jaicky Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of Voltanova, speaking to Apparel Resources.
