The Haryana State Pollution Control Board has issued show cause notice to five textile units of Panipat. The action has been taken after a surprise visit from the department’s officials on Sunday.
As per the media reports, these units were not following rules completely! While some of them did not have any record of ground water consumption, there wasn’t any log book either.
Also, there were no CCTVs in ETP plants. These companies have to reply to the notice in 15 days following which department will take further action accordingly.
Sachdeva Textiles, Warmer World LLP, BSBR Knit Fab, Sahara Home Furnishings, Warmer Textiles, Texo Textile are the units that were not allegedly following the rules.
Kamaljeet, Regional Officer, Pollution Department, Panipat told local media that he recently received complaint that untreated water of few factories is being drained into farms, following which a surprise visit was done.
It is pertinent to mention here that textile units using ETP have to share excess of their CCTV footage with pollution department for online monitoring.
With annual business of Rs. 35,000 crore, Panipat is a leading hub of home furnishing products for domestic as well export.
