Being the second largest industry in the world, textiles and textile production have a huge impact on the environment, and sustainability is one of the key aspects concerning this industry in present times.
One of the world’s leading institutions of textile, The Textile Institute, UK and Greenleaf Publishing, UK have joined hand to produce a new, ground-breaking book series, titled Sustainability in Textiles.
According to Rebecca Marsh, Publishing Director, Greenleaf Publishing and Rebecca Unsworth, Director of Professional Affairs, The Textile Institute, both these organisations are currently accepting proposals. Some of the interesting topics for the same are sustainable textile products and eco-textiles, (including cradle to cradle initiatives), human rights and working conditions of people employed within the textile industry, social responsibility and corporate governance within the industry (manufacturers, carriers, researchers, policy-makers), and in different geographic regions, sustainability within the textile supply chain, institutions, structures and organisations (eg the role played by collaborative initiatives such as the UN Global Compact) and the impact on the textile industry etc. Greenleaf Publishing is a leading independent publisher of academic and professional books and journals, specialising in sustainability.
