
Underlining that the US mission in Bangladesh was getting more queries from American companies on doing business in Bangladesh now, than before, due to the ‘awareness’ that there is a ‘strong economic’ growth in Bangladesh, Economic Officer of the US embassy Daniel Keen stated that bilateral trade between the two countries has increased by 8.5 per cent in 2015.

“I can tell you that the bilateral trade has increased by 8.5 per cent in 2015. It’s a pretty substantial growth. It’s even faster than the rate of economic growth (in Bangladesh) as a whole,” Keen said, adding, “The rate of trade and goods is going faster. That means that it has not been negatively impacted.”
This, the Economic Officer of the US embassy said, while addressing a press briefing recently, ahead of the 24th US Trade Show organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) in partnership with the US embassy.

It may be mentioned here that Bangladesh in strongly emerging as a preferred business destination for many overseas countries.
Earlier, hailing the business environment offered by Bangladesh to foreign companies, a visiting British business delegation stated that British companies are exploring new avenues of doing businesses in Bangladesh since they do not face any barriers here.
“I don’t see any barriers in Bangladesh at all. There is huge amount of (UK) businesses here and we have very positive relations (with Bangladesh),” observed the team leader of the visiting business delegation Peter Lindsay recently, adding, “We look forward to building on that and exploring new avenues.”
Lindsay reportedly said this while interacting with a group of journalists in Dhaka at the end of the delegation’s three-day visit, which also comprised members of the British ‘Aid Funded Business’.
