As cases of Omicron are increasing rapidly across India, garment factories are on their toes to ensure the safety of their workers and staff. Factories are making sure that each and every person in the premises follows the Covid appropriate behaviour.
The good thing is that so far absenteeism has not increased and workers are also supporting the factories by being more responsible.
In last few months, there was some reluctance on the part of workers as well as the overall staff of factories towards following the Covid appropriate behaviour, but now things have changed completely.
Raj Kapur, VP, HR & Admin, Wear Well India, Noida told Apparel Resources that no one is allowed inside the factory without a mask, or not wearing a mask properly or without sanitising. “We are pushing everyone to ensure proper sanitisation and arrange enough sanitisers everywhere in the factory. From morning to tea break, lunch… our teams are monitoring that no one takes the Covid appropriate behaviour lightly,” he said. Wear Well India is one of the leading exporters of women and kidswear.
Not only HR and Admin teams of the factories, even the senior management of the companies are ensuring that there’s no relaxation in this regard.
Some of the factories are continuously distributing masks to their workers, so that they develop a sense of responsibility.
It is pertinent to mention here that factories have full orders and with labour shortage already, factories are not taking any risk.
“Already there is weekend curfew in Delhi, and now UP and Haryana are also planning to take such steps. So our first priority is to complete whatever orders are there in process at the shop floor,” told a senior official of a company, which is having factories in Noida as well as Gurugram.
