India’s apparel export to USA dipped 8.80 per cent in value terms during September ’20 on Y-o-Y basis as it clocked just US $ 269.53 million as compared to US $ 295.69 per cent in the same month of 2019.
The considerable fact is that India tapped 0.90 per cent growth in its volume-wise exports to USA on Y-o-Y basis, indicating it got more orders than previous year but in low prices.
As far as unit prices are concerned, India shipped per SME garments to USA in US $ 3.39 as against US $ 3.76 in September ’19. This is a massive drop of 9.84 per cent.
On month-over-month (M-o-M) comparison with August ’20, India’s export to USA marked a marginal surge of 5.28 per cent in September ’20. Notably, the M-o-M surge has continuously been shrinking since June ’20 onwards.
In Year-Till-Date period (January-September ’20), India couldn’t uptick its garment exports to USA and declined by 29.89 per cent to US $ 2.27 billion which is a loss of around US $ 1.10 billion from the same period of 2019.
