Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai, met Union Minister of Commerce and Textile Piyush Goyal in Delhi and discussed the state’s textile policy.
The State Government has proposed to develop textile parks in Karnataka. The textile park is expected to come up in North Karnataka.
It is pertinent to mention here that a decade ago there was a proposal to set up a mega textile park in Kalaburagi, which, however, was scrapped owing to fund crunch.
Basavaraj Bommai said that the Union Textile Minister has asked the State Government to submit a proposal to establish a textile park in Karnataka. He added “The Minister assured us of all the required facilities, including subsidy from the Centre. He also said that he will help the state in forging tie-ups with national and international textile manufacturers. The proposed park will help in generating more employment, especially for women.”
Karnataka is one of the leading Indian states having famous apparel manufacturing hub Bangalore, with leading apparel exporters of the state like Gokaldas Exports, Gokaldas Images putting new factories outside the state – thanks to the incentives offered by other states like Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.
It is important to mention here that recently Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Industries Minister, Bihar met Piyush Goyal, Union Textiles Minister in Delhi and urged for 2 textile parks in Bihar.
