The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), one of the leading industry chambers of textile and apparel industry, elected its office-bearers yesterday (16 September) at its First Meeting of the Committee.
The meeting was held at Oyster, Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai.
T Rajkumar is the newly elected Chairman of CITI. Rajkumar is presently the Chairman of Sri Mahasakthi Mills Limited, Kerala, and Sri Arumuga Enterprise Limited and Foundation One Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd., Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, he is the Chairman of the Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC).
DL Sharma, Director, Vardhman Textiles Ltd., and MD, Vardhman Yarns and Threads Limited, has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of CITI. He is also the Deputy Chairman of TSC, besides having previously served as the Chairman of Punjab State Council of CII.
SK Khandelia is the newly elected Vice Chairman of CITI. A qualified chartered accountant, Khandelia is the President and CEO of Sutlej Textiles and Industries Ltd.
In his welcome address, Rajkumar thanked the CITI Committee, past Chairmen as well as his colleagues DL Sharma and SK Khandelia for their support.
He also congratulated M/s Maharaja Shree Umaid Mills, Rajasthan for winning CITI Birla Economic & Textile Research Foundation Award for ‘Effective Cost Management in the Textile Industry’, for 2018-19.
CITI also organised a seminar on ‘Strategic Discussion on Current Scenario of Textiles and Clothing Industry – A Way Forward’, which was graced by industry experts.
