Good days for Indian furniture market!
And Amazon seems to have recognised the potential of the furniture market in India after the category’s business grew 120 per cent over the last year.
The e-tailer is adding 1.6 lakh products to its portfolio, from small and medium businesses. There can’t be a better time than now with festive season round the corner.
Talking about the same, Suchit Subhas, Amazon India Director – Large Appliances and Furniture, said “Customers typically look to upgrade their homes in the festive season. We have added more than 60,000 products this year to offer the largest selection of furniture.”
65 per cent of the sales in the category hail from smaller towns like Nasik, Raipur, Vellore, Udupi, Kota, Kollam and Palakkad and 25 per cent of the overall furniture buyers avail of finance schemes like no-cost EMIs in order to revamp their homes.
Amazon also continuously works on providing hassle-free early delivery within 1 day to the top 10 cities and within 2 days to the top 25 cities in the country.
Speaking on this, Suchit added, “Our dedicated fulfilment infrastructure for furniture and large appliances allows us to make faster, damage-free deliveries.”
Amazon is not only selling popular brands in India like UrbanLadder, Sleepwell and Home Centre but is also enabling the rise of new brands in this category like Wakefit, Sleepycat and Deckup. Apart from this, artisans from Rajasthan are being given a platform to reach a nationwide audience through the portal.
Both Flipkart and Amazon are likely to have their respective festive season sales sometime in the end of September or start of October.
