A PM-MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park has been launched in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. The park will be set up on 1,550 acres of land at a cost of Rs 1,834 crore. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Textiles and BS Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka launched the park at an event.
It has been said that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with nine private companies in the cotton processing and textile business with an expected investment of Rs. 2,000 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted on this and said, “Indeed a special day for Karnataka and particularly Kalaburagi. Through this textiles park, the world will get a glimpse of India’s textiles diversity and the creativity of our people.”
Darshana Jardosh said that this mega textile integrated park will give a new identity to the state’s flourishing textile industry. This is India’s textile decade as we enter the Amrit Kaal, she added. ‘PM MITRA’ park will help Karnataka scale up its existing textile industry to now cater to emerging trends in Man Made Fibre and Technical Textiles.
BS Bommai said that the textile ministry is working with a clear strategy to empower the people of Karnataka. The PM-MITRA parks will enable the textile industry of India to achieve a bigger size, and modern scale along with the creation of integrated textile infrastructure so that the entire value chain of the textile sector will be available at one single location.
