Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Ludhiana will develop as a ‘textile hub’.
He was addressing his maiden ‘Fateh’ rally through videoconferencing for the electorate of Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib districts ahead of the Punjab election.
The Prime Minister said that the Ludhiana is a textile hub that lacked facilities and opportunities. He assured of providing all ultra-modern facilities and creating unmatched opportunities to ensure the industrial city reclaims its famous tags and competes in the international market with best infrastructure.
Ludhiana’s textile industry needs to be given a boost and the Centre has started a production-linked incentive scheme for the textiles sector, he added.
It is worth mentioning here that having large groups like Vardhman, Trident, Nahar, amongst many others, Ludhiana is one of the leading textile and knitted apparel manufacturing hubs of India. The city also has thousands of unorganised units also, and lacks basic infrastructure which is a major challenge for the industry here.
