The DMK has said that organisations under the control of the Union government had ranked Tamil Nadu first in the export of textiles, readymade garments and leather goods.
Tamil Nadu was responsible for 22.58 per cent of the nation’s textile exports, according to the National Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade (NIRYAT), as stated by the DMK.
“The report has made it clear that Tamil Nadu tops the list when it comes to export of textiles,” the DMK said. Tamil Nadu’s share was US $ 7.990 billion while Gujarat’s share was US $ 4.738 billion.
Tamil Nadu was also placed first out of the ten states that export readymade clothing. Tamil Nadu contributed US $ 5.30 billion of India’s US $ 16.19 billion in exports. The export of ready-made clothing was trailing behind states like Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Tamil Nadu accounted for 43.20 per cent of the country’s leather goods exports, placing it first, according to NIRYAT.
