The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government is working on new textile and garmenting policy 2022, which is expected to be finalised before July.
There are media reports that state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has focused on the state’s textile and apparel industry. The policy may have SOPs, especially, for textile units in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions of the state.
The prospective investors may look forward to a host of perks, including 100 per cent exemption on stamp duty, infrastructure development support and land subsidy, especially if they engage women workers.
It has been said that the MSME and export promotion department will chalk out a detailed plan, and drafting of the textile and garmenting policy is the first step in this direction.
As per media reports, ACS Navneet Sehgal, convened a meeting to review progress on the count. Officials from the finance and environment departments also attended the meeting to give their input for the policy development.
“The policy document of other states is being studied in detail to provide the most attractive deal to investors in UP. Investors will be encouraged to go to Bundelkhand and Purvanchal,” said Navneet Sehgal.
Amongst important provisions likely to be made in the new policy include 100 per cent reimbursement for those willing to set up private textile parks in the state. The Government’s vision is to attract an investment of Rs. 7,500 crore, which will create massive self-employment opportunities in the state.
As per an estimate, investment in the sector will provide jobs to five lakh people over the next five years.
The foundation stone of the proposed Apparel Park in Noida will be laid in July and it is expected to have 115 units. The commercial production is expected to begin in September 2025.
