Celebrating 125 years of its inception, West Bengal Hosiery Association (WBHA), Kolkata organised a one-day conference to commemorate the knitwear industry.
Addressing the event, Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani insisted apparel industry to upgrade the technology in order to improve the quality.
She said “You should use more advanced and new machines rather than using used China-made machines. As consequences of using old used machines, businessmen may face huge losses in the long run.”
The Minister further added “West Bengal has the talent but it needs to be upgraded. The skill should be upgraded for better production.”
Some of the companies were also honoured at the event.
TT Limited, another well-known company of India, was also honoured with Hall of Fame Award; Sanjay Kumar Jain, MD of the company delivered the theme address.
For his extraordinary contribution to the textile industry, Dindayal Gupta, Chairman Emeritus, Dollar Industries Ltd., was honoured with WBHA’s ‘Hall of Fame’ Award from Smriti Irani.
Rakesh Biyani, President, The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI); Dr. A. Sakthivel, Vice Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC); Kunj Behari Agarwala, President, Federation of Hosiery Manufacturers (FOHMA); Ashok Kumar Todi, President and Sandeep Seksaria, Secretary, WBHA among others were also present on the occasion.
