Ndeshihafela Larandja, the mayor of Windhoek, recently welcomed Indian High Commissioner Rahul Shrivastava to discuss potential municipal collaboration between Namibia and India. The possibility of working together to build large-scale textile production in Windhoek is a key topic of discussion, according to a statement from the City of Windhoek.
Shrivastava stressed the two nations’ solid bilateral connections and pointed out ways Windhoek could profit from India’s experience in several fields.
Larandja acknowledged India’s global leadership in the textile industry and conveyed the City’s significant commitment in its growth. With the help of India’s cutting-edge technologies and extensive industry knowledge, she underlined plans to revive the current Ramatex facilities and turn them into a significant hub for textile production.
She came to the conclusion that this project might greatly increase local capabilities, generate jobs, and benefit Windhoek and the Namibian economy as a whole.
