The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has announced a leadership transition with senior industrialist Ashok Jirawala assuming office as President and entrepreneur Ravi Raj Desai taking over as Vice President.
A member of South Gujarat’s textile sector, Jirawala currently serves as President of the Federation of Gujarat Weavers Welfare Association. Jirawala has been associated with SGCCI for nearly two decades and served as the Chamber’s Vice President during 2025-26.
Under the new leadership, SGCCI is expected to focus on enhancing the competitiveness of industries across the region. Key priorities include promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and innovation in sectors such as textiles, chemicals, diamonds and pharmaceuticals.

Strengthening international linkages through trade, investment and partnership opportunities is another major focus area, aimed at connecting South Gujarat’s industrial base with global markets.
The formal handover of responsibilities took place during an oath-taking ceremony held at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sarsana.
The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Union Minister of Jal Shakti C. R. Patil, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, J. K.
