The non-profit organization, Tamana, in association with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), held its annual fashion show on September 15, which was themed as “Unity in Diversity”, at the Hyatt Regency Delhi, the CSR partner of Tamana.
Starting with the live performance of the young singer Diwakar of Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs, the event was graced by Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan as the Chief Guest. Patricia Hiramatsu, wife of Kenji Hiramatsu, Harinder Singh Sidhu, High Commissioner of Australia and Joanna Kempkers, High Commissioner of New Zealand to India, walked the ramp to begin the show with the Inclusion Walk.
Several FDCI designers showcased their designs that were adorned by models who walked beside the children of Tamana exuding as much confidence as the professionals. These designers included famous names like 11.11 CellDsgn, Alpana Neeraj, Amit Aggarwal, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Payal Pratap Singh, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Rimzim Dadu, along with other designers – Asha Gautam by Gautam Gupta and Asha Rani Gupta, Ridhi Arora and Namita Bansal.
The novel element added to the event were the ensembles designed and manufactured by the differently-abled at the sublimation unit at Tamana’s Skill Development Centre on the catwalk. The evening came to an end as Tamana Chona, walked the ramp dressed in Amit Aggarwal, while expressing her gratitude to the audience which attended the show, along with actress Soundarya Sharma who adorned an Alpana Neeraj ensemble.
Dr. Shayama Chona, Founder and President, Tamana said, “The fascinating fashion show promoting ‘We are One’ irrespective of intellectual and physical differences is wonderfully put by Tamana, FDCI and Hyatt. According to me, these kids are born with a mission to remind us that we may have everything, but they are much greater in their purity of heart.”
Sunil Sethi, President FDCI, who was entitled as the Crusader of Inclusion by Tamana, said, “I am delighted to be a part of an event that celebrates inclusion in the most graceful manner, driving home the point that all humans are equal. Dr.Shayama Chona has done wonders with Tamana, an organization that works selflessly for the specially-abled.”
