The quest for technological innovations continues with the second edition of the Texprocess show. The global platform recognizes the challenges that the industry is going through from increasing wage, production and logistic costs to shorter response times as well as increasing fashion awareness that is bringing manufacturing closer to the consumer; hence showcasing technology that addresses these evolving trends. Another trend, which the event will concentrate on, is growing integration of IT and automation in the garment industry’s value chain. Team StitchWorld, a regular visitor at many international technology shows, highlights some of the companies and technologies to watch out for at this edition of the fair…
Conceived from the need to keep pace with global requirements in technology, Texprocess has among its major agenda’s a keen desire to promote sustainable technology under the initiative ‘Blue Competence’, which enables the manufacturers of sewing and garment technology to show how through continuous innovation they contribute to a more efficient use of energy, the conservation of natural resources, a reduction in costs and an increase in productivity in spite of consuming less energy.
Held concurrently with Techtextil, the international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens, Texprocess offers a synergy point for sewn product industry to update on innovations, also acknowledging the truly outstanding ones through the Innovation Awards. This edition saw 18 companies and 30 products nominated for the awards, from which Bonding Machine (BM-1000) by Brother, Coats Colour Express by Coats GmbH, Duerkopp Adler AG (*1), C-tex colour by Nixtex Ltd., Innovative operating concept for industrial sewing and welding machines by PFAFF, Shirt Ironing Machine with Automatic Moisture Control by Veit GmbH and VETRON 5374 Hot Air Welding by Xi’an Typical Europe GmbH were adjudged the winners. The seven winners will be on display at the foyer of Halls 5.1 / 6.1.
The various seminars, technical forums and specially carved out zones like ‘Source it’, IT@Texprocess, Texprocess Forum and Texprocess Campus add value to the knowledge sharing platform at the Texprocess. All zones are designed to address specific needs from apparel sourcing to updating research happening at various institutes. With the “i-tex – apparel sourcing system” online portal, exhibitors and visitors can get together even before Texprocess actually starts, and fix appointments online.
Surprisingly, China and other South Asian countries are represented by very few technology providers. With the focus market being Eastern and Central Europe, the visitor is expected to be looking at more automation and high-end products, which is the forte of German and Japanese brands. This makes the Texprocess show a more Europe-centric fair with similar kinds of technologies on offer.
Expanding its online information services for visitors, exhibitors and journalists visiting the Texprocess 2013 show, Messe Frankfurt has launched for the first time the ‘Texprocess Navigator’ smartphone application, which makes available a comprehensive exhibitor search engine, live feed from Twitter & other websites, detailed map of the fairgrounds, exhibitor and product search engine, list of concurrent seminars and workshops, clubbed with in-depth description of the solutions and technologies on display, along with information on the top themes or topics like IT Process Optimization, Technical Textiles and Sourcing Trends.
