Active in Bangladesh for the past 12 years, China-based Zhejiang Gemsy Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd. has maintained a steady growth rate in the highly competitive market, though the last year was not so good for them. “We are in the process of learning from our competitors and their offerings, at the same time focusing on the pricing, service and marketing of our brand,” said Justin Zhang, Assistant Manager of the International Trade Department of the company. Agreeing to the fact that the after-sales service and technical support to the industry are the most critical aspects of their business, Justin added, “In recent times we have conducted three training sessions at our service centres in the country, as the local maintenance teams of our clients have a hard time understanding our technology and hence need continuous support and knowledge sharing from our side.”
The company has a team of both local and Chinese technicians, to address all service needs and owes all the credit for its success to its local co-operator, Sarder Elias Hossain. Based on the fact that the industry today wants consistent services like faster part change, robust technical support, time to time supply of spare parts, the company is maintaining adequate stock with local dealers and also a technical team which not only keeps the service levels high, but also trains the clients and users continuously.
Of the wide variety of machines displayed at the fair, Gemsy’s automated machines and particularly the 9310D lockstitch machine with semi-dry technology, drew the maximum attention at the fair, along with the GEM 8800D lockstitch sewing machine with energy saving direct-drive motor which enabled at least 60% energy saving.
Gradually gaining popularity and already bagging clients like Abbas Group etc., for 2013 the company aims to develop a deeper understanding of the customers’ requirements and in turn offer better solutions in times to come.
