The US based design studio Nervous System has designed a 4D printed dress from its Kinematics software, which is a 4D printing system for generating complex and foldable forms. The outfit incorporates a patterned structure of 2,279 unique triangular panels interconnected by 3,316 hinges, all 3D printed as a single piece in nylon. It has been created directly from body scans and needs no assembly unlike traditionally made clothing from flat material that is cut and painstakingly pieced together. Founded in 2007, Nervous System writes computer programs based on processes and patterns found in nature.
