It’s seen that in a matter of just 2 months a whole industry – Medical Textiles and PPE – has been raised and is being supported by the apparel and textile manufacturers of India.
Joining the efforts, Texport Syndicate (India) Ltd., one of the leading apparel manufacturing companies in India, has now stepped to produce PPE kits. The decision is to support Ministry of Textiles, India in its endeavour to fight the war against COVID-19 pandemic and safeguard the first responders.
Texport Syndicate has taken a quick lead in developing advanced materials through its innovation centre and started producing COVID 360-degree protection coveralls conforming to the ASTM F 1670 standards – the synthetic blood penetration resistance test – as identified and directed by the Ministry of Health, India for mitigating risks of COVID-19.
Not just ASTM F 1670 standards, Texport Syndicate is also geared up to meet the comprehensive EN 14126 coverall standard as needed by World Health Organization (WHO) and International Med-Tex Standards required by various geographies worldwide.
“These stringent world standards ensure that the coveralls are breathable, have better MVTR and have a stronger deterrence to virus and microbes,” told Avinash Misar, Director & CEO, Advanced Material Division, Texport Syndicate (India) Ltd. and Director, Indian Tech Textiles Association while speaking to Apparel Resources.
According to Avinash, a technical product like body coverall needs an immense understanding and technical know-how, which is already a strong zone of Texport Syndicate. Its Advance Material Division (AMD) – set up nearly 3 years ago – is an innovation wing which is already involved in research and development of technical textiles materials.
Currently, the total installed capacity at the factories of Texport Syndicate located in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is nearly 3 million pieces per month. “We ensure there will be no dearth in supply of PPE coverall,” claimed Avinash.
As the company has already been doing protective textiles, the technology wasn’t a challenge for it. The latest seam sealing technology is being used to meet the performance standards even at seams of the coveralls. For water penetration resistance of the fabric, Texport Syndicate is using in-house hydrostatic head tester.
“Our understanding of seam sealing is strong because we are already into protective gear manufacturing. This is why we have been able to make the right choice of selecting fabric and seam sealing technology which proved to be a major part of the whole equation,” concluded Avinash.
