Marker making is a skill based task, which serves as the deciding factor for the utilization of fabric and its subsequent wastage if any during the production of apparel. As fabric forms an approximate 70% of the cost of the production of the entire garment, better utilization of fabrics is the need of the hour. On display at the GTE – SMARTMARK, an innovation by Tukatech, is designed for manufacturers looking for consistent results speedily, TUKAStudio is the ideal solution for all apparel design and merchandizing needs. It can be used for processes like development and modification of various kinds of weaves and knits, creation of colour-ways, and building storyboards, through a user-friendly graphic user interface. TUKAStudio supports single users as well as multiple user environments.
The Styku body scanning system, another first from Tukatech using Kinect technology can be installed in an existing dressing room (allowing you to double the functionality of the existing space), or customers can scan themselves using Microsoft Kinect for Windows at home. Body measurements are then extracted and used to create a customized 3D mannequin and an online profile accessible via the Internet or mobile device. Styku benefits both consumers and online retailers, as customers can buy with confidence when purchasing apparel online and retailers can expect fewer returns. At a retail location, there is no need for shoppers to try on multiple sizes, as a quick scan provides a list of sizes and inventory of clothing in the store that would best fit their body. It helps in reducing cycle time as the process is very fast and accurate. It also helps in virtual sampling and in made-to-measure clothing. Other scanners in the market average a scan time between 8 to 12 seconds and the longer the scan time, the more people move, making it difficult to get an accurate scan and extract accurate measurements. Styku’s Body Scan takes only 3 seconds to scan the entire body, greatly reducing the scan time and increasing precision of the scan.
TUKAcad Tailor Edition is based on support from TUKA 3D and Styku’s body scanning system, and is the first made-to-measure system for designers and consumers. The previously created 3D garment templates can be changed into a new style, or changed in accordance to the body scan data collected so that, the garment fits the end customer.
