In a move that will improve operational efficiency and help the company grow, India-based outdoor brand Wildcraft has chosen WFX Fashion PLM to digitalise its operations.
WFX – World Fashion Exchange – is a leading provider of cloud-based enterprise software solutions for the fashion industry. The PLM is a modern cloud-based system that will enable Wildcraft to streamline its processes, manage data from multiple sources and increase visibility into the production process.
Founded in 1998 by Siddharth Sood, Gaurav Dublish and Dinesh Kaigonahalli, Wildcraft is a fast-growing Indian outdoor brand offering performance gear, footwear and clothing for adventure enthusiasts. Backed by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, Flipkart and private equity firm FidelisWorld, the company retails its products through around 200 exclusive stores and 4,000 multi-branded stores across India and abroad.
Wildcraft’s first product in the 1990s was a dome tent, but the company has since extended its offering to include performance footwear, apparel, backpacks, rucksacks, camping and hiking equipment, among other adventure-oriented products.
The company has grown quickly since its founding and now operates three manufacturing units in Bengaluru, Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. In late 2020, Wildcraft scaled up its manufacturing facilities by collaborating with more than 60 factories through a hub and spoke model, through which it employs over 30,000 people.
This rapid expansion made it clear that Wildcraft needed a more efficient way to manage its operations than relying on paper records and spreadsheets maintained by individual employees.
Till now, Wildcraft had been using a variety of different systems to keep track of production and workflow. The lack of coordination was one of the biggest challenges that hindered the company’s growth. It didn’t have a centralised system in place for managing information about production history and status, which made it difficult for the team to communicate effectively with vendors.
Additionally, there was no way to track real-time progress and productivity of each employee on their particular projects because there wasn’t any data available about what had already been completed or what remained to be done. This led to a fragmented view of the business and made coordination difficult.
Finally, sharing information with vendors was difficult because there was no way for them to view or share all of the important details about each product at once in one place.
After researching several options, Wildcraft chose WFX PLM because it met all of Wildcraft’s requirements: an easy-to-use interface that allows employees from different departments to centrally input information; robust inventory management features; and collaboration capabilities so that Wildcraft can share data with its supply chain partners.
The company was impressed with the flexibility of WFX’s platform. “Our team was able to customise the solution so that it met all our needs,” Aditya Upadhyay, Head, Information Technology & Systems, Wildcraft said, adding, “We’re excited to implement the software across our entire organisation.”
WFX PLM is a cloud-based platform that allows Wildcraft to manage the entire design and product development process from one central system. This helps it streamline its operations and ensure that every person in the company has access to the same data at all times.
The vendor portal feature of WFX PLM is also important because it allows vendors to access all relevant information about their orders directly from their own systems. With this, Wildcraft can easily manage relationships with vendors and track all of their activities in one place. It will improve communication and collaboration at every step of the production process.
Meanwhile, WFX PLM’s Time & Action calendar feature will help Wildcraft plan its projects more efficiently by monitoring where it stands in terms of meeting deadlines as well as tracking progress towards goals such as reducing costs or increasing revenue through more efficient processes.
Finally, the Analytics dashboard provides real-time information about performance and other key metrics such as planning, production control, inventory management and quality assurance—allowing users to make critical decisions based on current conditions rather than relying solely on historical data or forecasts. The dashboards will help Wildcraft understand trends and identify areas for improvement.
On a closing note, Wildcraft’s team said, “We are excited about the future of our company because we know that with WFX PLM by our side, we will be able to grow even faster.”
