Apparel manufacturing industry in South India has urged the Government to advise ESI Corporation for mass vaccination to all insured employees immediately.
Raja M. Shanmugham, President, Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has written a letter to Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Labour & Employment and requested to advise Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for mass vaccination to all insured employees immediately.
The same has also been requested to Mukhmeet S. Bhatia, DG, ESIC on war footing basis.
Raja said that this is an appropriate time for ESIC to come forward and protect insured employees through ESI hospitals and dispensaries at free of cost.
It is pertinent to mention here that COVID-19 cases are growing in Tirupur, which is one of the leading knitwear hubs having more than one million workers in garment industry.
Meanwhile, Apparel Resources got to know from confirmed sources that district administration is ready with a capacity of vaccinating 15,000 people every day.
The CM of the state has also assured the industry of increasing the supply of vaccines, hopefully, in next few days.
