The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Friday lifted the seal on the city’s largest mall Ahmedabad One mall after the mall authorities paid a penalty of Rs. 1 lakh along with giving an affidavit stating they will now follow all the guidelines set by the AMC.
Also known as Alpha One, Ahmedabad One mall was sealed on 3 August after it was seen blatantly violating the Government guidelines and rules while operating. The staff and visitors were observed not maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.
That there was no sanitisation there was also noticed.
After the Ahmedabad One mall reopened, the retailers had to undergo a difficult situation, as they were forced to get rapid antigen tests (RAT) done on all their staff members and pay for the same.
It must be mentioned here that there are nearly 2,000 store owners and salespersons working at the mall, and all have been asked to mandatorily get tested.
This has only added to the retailers’ woes, as it is an additional expense for them in the current hard times when revenues have already taken a hit owing to COVID-19.
