Amazon India is seeing a 35–40% increase in customer demand following the launch of early festive deals, as the e-commerce company expands its fulfillment capacity and strengthens its operations network ahead of the festive season.
The company has invested more than Rs 2,800 crore in its India operations network and added 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations across 118 cities. These additions have increased Amazon India’s total storage capacity by 50% to 64 million cubic feet compared with last year.
“We already have some early glimpse of it. We opened certain parts of our deals to customers about 10 days back, and we are already seeing almost a 35–40% spike in demand,” said Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President, Amazon India.
Amazon has also created more than 160,000 seasonal work opportunities across 400 cities to support the expected increase in festive orders. The company said the additional capacity and workforce are aimed at handling higher demand and improving delivery speeds during the peak season.
Meanwhile, Amazon is expanding its quick-commerce service Amazon Now, which has grown from a limited number of cities last year to 120 cities currently. The company plans to expand the service to 300 cities by the end of 2026, bringing festive deals to customers through faster delivery.
