The India division of retail company Apparel Group plans to considerably increase department store chain R&B’s retail presence in the nation. The company will increase its current eight R&B department stores to 20 in the upcoming year.
“We are super aggressive and bullish on R&B in India,” Apparel Group India’s president Tushar Ved was quoted as saying. “R&B’s price point is right for India and is one of the best brands for us to grow here. There is a huge consumer segment at that price point.”
After having already introduced the product category at one of its sites and witnessing a favourable reaction, Apparel Group plans to increase the presence of beauty products at R&B stores. The initiative by Apparel Group to increase its R&B store presence is a part of its strategy to capitalise on development in India’s market for affordable fashion, which follows the country’s expanding middle class and rising brand recognition in non-metro areas.
Apparel Group offers international brands like Charles & Keith, Aldo, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Tim Hortons in India in addition to R&B outlets. In 2012, Apparel Group introduced R&B and set up shop in Oman. Seven nations now have R&B outlets run by the company.
