Crocs has classified India as a Tier 1 market, making the country a key priority for both its Asia-Pacific (APAC) business and global operations as the footwear brand continues to record double-digit growth and increase investments across retail, omnichannel, product expansion and sourcing.
According to the company, India was among the three APAC markets, alongside China and Japan, to report double-digit growth for Crocs in Q2. This compares with 4% growth for the global Crocs brand and 7% growth across international markets.
The company said momentum in India has continued into Q3, although it has not disclosed market-specific revenue or growth figures.
Crocs’ India growth strategy is focused on four areas: expanding its retail footprint, strengthening omnichannel operations, broadening its product portfolio and increasing cultural relevance.
The company began the year with nearly 300 company-operated and partner-operated stores in India and has added more than 20 stores since then, with a focus on quality locations.
The brand is also expanding its product offering beyond its core Classic Clog. Sandals have performed strongly in India, while newer products such as Classic Ballet and Echo are helping broaden the portfolio. Crocs has also introduced bags that can be personalised with its Jibbitz charms.
The company sees further potential in the clog category, with the Classic Clog continuing to serve as the foundation of its India business. Crocs is also investing across digital and physical channels, which it views as complementary to each other.
India is additionally gaining importance as a global manufacturing and sourcing hub for Crocs.
The company has increased its manufacturing base in the country from two factories to five and plans to further expand capacity depending on domestic and global requirements. Products manufactured in India are also exported to international markets.
Varun Sehgal, SVP & General Manager – APAC, Crocs noted that, earlier this year, we classified the India market as a tier 1 market, which is a critical market for us, not only for my region here in APAC, but also from a global perspective.
He added that in Q2, we had strong double-digit growth. In Q3, we’re seeing continued strong momentum for the brand in the India market.
