In order to give more options to select from and better-quality products to customers, the Indian e-commerce retailer Flipkart has launched a private clothing brand for kids, dubbed Miss & Chief. This is the fourth such launch by the Flipkart.
According to Rishi Vasudev, Head of Flipkart Fashion, the move is not aimed to drive profitability to the company but to offer more choices to opt for.
Aimed at kids in the age group of 2-10 years, apparel and footwear will be offered under the newly launched brand.
The retailer currently has more than 2 lakh styles to offer to its customers in the fashion segment. Around 200 brands including Gini & Jony, Barbie, Allen Solly Junior and Crocs among others are majorly sold by Flipkart.
The SoftBank-backed e-commerce giant has reported a whopping demand in kids’ fashion category already which helped it to note 100 per cent year-on-year growth in the segment. The majority of the demands were from Tier II and III towns of the country.
At least 51 per cent share of the online market in the kids fashion category is shared by the Flipkart, which claims itself as the leader in this category.
The report surfaced earlier claimed that Flipkart is gearing to launch a private label for kids.
In another reported development it has been claimed that Amazon is likely to jump into a deal to buy a stake in rival Flipkart where Walmart Inc. is already in advanced talks. However, the reports also claimed that Walmart is likely to get the deal inked.
