With an aim to meet the surging demand for women’s apparel in the Tier-2 cities across India, leading fashion brand Madame on Monday announced the launch of 6 new stores.
It is noteworthy here that the demand came in at a time when the country is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has adversely impacted several industries.
While one of these stores will be situated in Lucknow’s Crown Mall, the other five will be high-street stores based in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
Commenting on the same, the brand’s Executive Director, Akhil Jain shared that the store walk-ins in Tier-2 cities are “at 60 per cent pre-COVID-19 levels.”
Madame expects the demand to get better within the next 2 months, “coming to almost 75 per cent footfalls as of last year.”
The brand hopes to reach 80 per cent like-to-like sales this year, and is anticipating to achieve that with its latest expansion plans in Tier-2 markets, he added.
At the same time, Akhil also underlined that Madame’s online sales saw significant growth during the lockdown period.
“We will also be investing more in online promotions in the run-up to the festive season,” he further stated.
Adapting to the new normal, the company has redirected a considerable amount of its budget towards digital, and has also planned to come up with an omnichannel “to reach the customer when the customer is struggling to reach us.”
