
A report by Capgemini, an IT firm, suggests that online shopping will continue to surge in India even after the lockdown is over.
A rise of 64 per cent from 46 per cent would be witnessed over the next 6-9 months as people would prefer goods being delivered at their door steps to practice social distancing.
The study was conducted in the first 2 weeks of April.
It further states that around 72 per cent of the consumers would prefer buying from retailers as that will provide them delivery assurance and ease of cancellation in the next 6-9 months.
In addition, only 46 per cent of the population would prefer shopping from physical stores in comparison to the 59 per cent of consumers shopping offline before the coronavirus crisis began.
Moreover, the report further reveals that around 74 per cent of Indians opted for flexible delivery times, while 89 per cent of customers chose cleanliness, healthy and safety as their priority for shopping online post pandemic.
Also, in order to avoid any contact including the exchange of currency, 78 per cent of the Indian consumers would switch to digital payment methods.
On a positive side, around 75 per cent of Indians are very optimistic about recovery in the next 6 months, compared to 48 per cent of shoppers across the globe.
