Indian streetwear brand Sorta is targeting the global retail sector and plans to open brick-and-mortar stores in India to boost sales.
Sorta wants to explore foreign markets and increase its retail presence throughout India. Plans call for increased spending on consumer research, product innovation, and R&D. The brand also aims to create a larger community around its streetwear-inspired designs and ‘hustlewear’ attitude.
Sorta was formed in 2020 by entrepreneur Divyush Gadodia, who had previously worked in banking. According to the brand’s website, Sorta manufactures ‘hustlewear’ for both men and women. With its headquarters located in Kolkata, the bootstrapped brand has gradually established itself in India’s fashion scene and ended the 2024 fiscal year with revenues of Rs 60 lakh.
The brand’s offerings include T-shirts, sweatshirts, bomber jackets, cargo pants, bowling shirts, shorts, socks, accessories, and fragrances. The company has created its own proprietary 3D textured print process, called “Praint,” to set itself apart through innovation. Handcrafted artwork is another area of focus for the business.
