
PN Rao, the Bengaluru-based textile and tailoring company, recently celebrated the company’s centenary. The company released a coffee table book on the occasion detailing the origin, evolution and legacy of the brand.
Having five branches in Bengaluru and two more in Chennai, the brand has announced plans for expansion and specialisation which includes its re-entry into the women’s businesswear segment.
Partners of PN Rao — Machender Pishe, Chandramohan Pishe, Naveen Pishe and Ketan Pishe – speaking at a press conference said, “P N Rao has contributed immensely to the Indian retail industry and built a unique reputation of its own as an iconic Made in India brand”.
The company, which started out as a ladies tailoring brand, during the British Raj, turned towards menswear post-independence when the founder’s son learnt the art of gents’ pattern making.
“P N Rao has built one of the largest bespoke tailoring units on the outskirts of Bengaluru which is completely solar powered which demonstrates our commitment to the environment and clean and safe and hygienic manufacturing of our apparel”, added Naveen Pishe, Partner, P N Rao.
