Madhya Pradesh-based Maral Overseas Limited, one of India’s largest vertically integrated textile companies and part of LNJ Bhilwara Group has won the prestigious CITI Birla Award for the year 2017-18 for achieving excellence in sustainability. The award consisting a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh and a citation were presented in an event recently. Dinesh Kumar Mittal, Unit Head, Maral Overseas Ltd. received the winning prize from CITI Chairman Sanjay K Jain.
CITI’s Birla Economic and Textile Research Foundation distributes the award every year for outstanding research in any branch of the textile industry or its allied branches. This year the jury for selection of the Winner of CITI Birla Award for 2017-18 included Dr. Arindam Basu, Director General, NITRA as jury chairman along with Dr. Prakash Vasudevan, Director, SITRA, Dr. Anjan K. Mukhopadhyay, Director, BTRA and MN Subramanian, Director, ATIRA as jury members.
Maral Overseas Limited uses various kinds of sustainable fibres like recycled polyester, bamboos, soya fibre, etc. The captive washing is given more importance over the overflow washing and they have the fully equipped RO, ETP and MEE plant with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). 70 per cent of the water was being reused in their production process.
The company uses solar power and total energy saved in the last three year was 7563 KWH/day. The company also uses recyclable and biodegradable packing material.
