Gurgaon based buying house, SGSR Group, primarily working with US as their market base, is now looking at Holland and other less explored markets in Europe as potential destinations for Indian exports. “Though the US is a better market to work with today considering the ongoing European scenario, some very good contacts of mine in Europe have hinted that many new buyers in Holland and Europe, who have not worked with India previously, are interested to work with the country. I am already exploring the options, but it is too early to give details as things are still in the pipeline,” said Sujatha, Director, SGSR Group in conversation with Apparel Online.
Commenced in 2006, SGSR Group acts as a channel to facilitate product sourcing requirements of corporations looking at garments and home furnishings. With ladies wear and kids wear as their key products, the buying office is working with brand names like FINO and Suarette from US, in order sizes that range anywhere between 500 to 2000 pieces. “Though we are appreciated for the quality of the products we deliver, tops and dresses remain our strength. The market for ladies wear has also been more consistent to work with in recent times. As we work with higher-end clients where the focus is on the quality and design of the product, we don’t feel the rush to enter bulk quantities,” said Sujatha.
With a strong supplier base consisting of a number of established manufacturers throughout the country, SGSR Group deals with both knitted and woven garments, with fabric bases that include cotton voile, poplin, 100 per cent viscose, poly silk, 80/80 yarn dyed and 60’s cambric. “In these difficult times it is very important to constantly search new markets to grow and we are hopeful that by the end of this year we will have some new buyers from Europe working with us,” concludes Sujatha.
