
The Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) has announced that, as of 8th May 2025, Dr. M. S. Parmar, a distinguished textile scientist and the organization’s previous director, will assume the role of Director General of NITRA, Ghaziabad. Additionally, he oversees NITRA Technical Campus (NTC), the academic branch of NITRA.
Dr. Parmar has served NITRA for over 32 years and has worn many hats. He is an expert in a variety of areas, including textile chemistry, protective textiles, unconventional fibres, and textile quality control. To date, he has filed 15 patents, five of which have been granted, and finished 28 Government and industry-sponsored projects. In addition, he has authored and co-authored 17 books, delivered 140 presentations at esteemed technical forums, published 137 articles in national and international journals, and mentored 48 students at the Ph.D., M.Sc., M. Tech., and B. Tech. levels. Dr. Parmar received numerous honours for his technical papers and research
Dr. Parmar received numerous honours in the research and industry community for his recent efforts to create thermal layers of clothing for extremely cold climates. In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Textile Minister Giriraj Singh met with him in person to talk about this and express gratitude. The Textile Association of India presented Dr. Parmar with the “Hon. F.T.A.” for the year 2022–2023 in appreciation of his services to the textile sector.
