The cotton warehouse of Ludhiana-based Trident Ltd.’s manufacturing facility at Budhni (Madhya Pradesh) witnessed losses of around Rs. 100 crore following a major fire mishap. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.
Though no loss of life has been reported yet, huge cotton stock got burnt in this sad incident. The company also added that the actual quantum of loss/damage cannot be ascertained at this point of time.
The fire could not be doused completely even after 24 hours.However, many fire brigade tenders have been trying to control the fire.
Kanchan Sondhi, the company spokesperson, said that the fire majorly damaged stocks of cotton lying in the warehouse resulting in losses of approximately Rs. 100 crore. Notably, major losses occurred due to strong dry winds and inclement weather.
Trident Ltd., which has one of the biggest spinning plants in Budhni, is proactively monitoring the situation and taking further necessary steps for the safety and well-being of its employees.
The company also informed that the damage is adequately covered by insurance and it has already informed the insurance company about the fire incident.
